looking for help with demon/sage

before i even start yes im a noob...just started playing this week, but so far i havent been able to find anything specific enough on google to help me start this quest...im wanting a demon, but idk if theirs a prerequisite quest for it because the person im supposed to talk to for the quest doesnt have nething for me...any help would really be appreciated
